Job Description

Our client is an innovative technology company, which is experiencing elevated growth due to continued success. As such, they are seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to join their busy Taunton office.

This is a full-time role, which will require working within the office in Taunton, although there is plenty flexibility with homeworking/ remote arrangements.

As a member of the technical support team, you will be responsible for covering systems administration, network and server administration, PCI/GDPR administration, Device builds and troubleshooting along with client support.

The role:

  • Assist the team in undertaking day-to-day maintenance of the internal IT estate and Office 365
  • Attending relevant IT meetings and providing updates
  • Carrying out monitoring of systems to ensure system health and security
  • Maintaining and administering Linux servers
  • Reviewing Web Application Firewall (WAF) logs as and when required
  • MySQL/MariaDB database administration
  • 1st line support for inbound technical support for onsite and remote employees
  • Perform PCI/GDPR compliance checks
  • Patching servers and responding to security alerts
  • Laptop troubleshooting and builds
  • System trend analysis and metric reporting
  • Out of hours on call support
  • 2nd Line ticket management
  • Participating in calls/meetings
  • Assist with challenging client requests or issue escalations as needed
  • Contribute to Integration documents to ensure accuracy and clarity
  • Improve technical knowledge throughout the team
  • Provide general product information and configuration support
  • Collect relevant technical details to effectively troubleshoot scope of reported issue

Essential Requirements:

 

  • Experience working in an IT administration role
  • Technical Background or computer science/software engineering degree
  • Knowledge of Windows 10 and Microsoft 365
  • Experience with SOHO routers, firewalls, and access points
  • Linux systems administration (CentOS/Ubuntu)
  • Experience with ecommerce platforms such as WooCommerce and Magento
  • Good knowledge of MySQL
  • Basic understanding of email infrastructure, DNS, DHCP, etc
  • Understanding of networks and network switching (Cisco)
  • A technical predisposition, and the desire to learn
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills
  • Analytical and commercially sharp
  • Excellent communicational skills, including verbally and written
  • High energy with the ability to multi-task and prioritise as appropriate
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as within a diverse team
  • Strong API and Scripting skills
  • Knowledge of PHP and other programming languages.
